Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in the first session?

Our first session is all about getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and anything you think it’s important I know. You’re welcome to share at your own pace—there’s no pressure to dive into everything right away.

Do you only work with clients who have experienced religious trauma?

Not at all. While I specialize in supporting folks who are navigating religious or spiritual trauma, I also work with clients on a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, identity exploration, disability, relationship issues, and life transitions.

Are you LGBTQ+ affirming?

Yes—fully and unapologetically. I welcome clients of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions. My practice is a space where queer and trans folks can show up fully and without judgment.

Are sessions in person or virtual?

My practice is currently virtual-only, meaning all sessions are held via a secure, PHIPA-compliant video platform. This allows for greater accessibility and flexibility, especially for those outside major urban centers or with mobility or sensory barriers.

Do you work with couples?

I don’t offer couples therapy at this time. However, I do support individuals who are navigating relationship challenges, including those related to faith, identity, or communication.

What modalities do you use?

I take an eclectic approach, drawing from several evidence-based modalities including Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I tailor my approach based on your needs, goals, and preferences.

Do I have to be religious or spiritual to work with you?

Not at all. I work with people across the entire spectrum, from deeply religious to completely secular. Whether you’re looking to unpack faith-related experiences or just want a therapist who won’t flinch when religion comes up, I’m here to meet you where you are.

What are your fees? Do you offer sliding scale?

My fee is $160 per 50-minute session. At this time, I do not offer a sliding scale, as I’m in the early stages of building my practice.

Do you offer direct billing to insurance?

No, I do not offer direct billing. However, most insurance providers in Ontario do cover sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist (RP). I provide a detailed receipt after each session, which you can submit for reimbursement.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes—I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help us get a feel for whether we’d be a good fit. This is a chance for you to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and see how I work.
